‘ The Asswin Project’(http://www.theasswinproject.org.uk/) is a unique UK-based charity foundation that work towards Donkeys and other animals in India by raising funds in order to finance a rescue programme in and around the outskirts of Delhi . The idea of the name "Aswin" is derived Ass (donkey) and ‘Aswins’, who were the divine physicians in Hindu mythology and who were ever agile to attend to the needs of the sick, healed pain and suffering. For this heart winning cause of providing medical help to injured, sick, ignored, and extremely needy animals, the small administration team receives no salary and whatever donations are received are preserved only for the benefits of animals . This project is affiliated with a local animal shelter and hospitals where animals are taken on regular basis for a long treatment.

Jean and Bob Harrison have been actively involved in the animal welfare in India since 1994, unlike many of our Indians. In 2005, they decided to set up their own programme after being associated with many NGOs.  They have a very tiring approach whereby both work every day or every week, visiting many construction sites, streets, brick kilns and others to give treatment. They also offer training to the owners of the animals about how to take care of them and love unconditionally. This isn’t the end yet, they also help various communities, local police, etc. to provide help involved in road accidents whereby they do engage vet to lend a voluntary helping hand.

You are given freedom to choose from the types of donkeys to be blessed in the monetary form of help.  The website is the clear evidence of the efforts gone behind to build up this empire dedicated to donkeys.
